Moses G. Whitsitt was born in Virginia in 1792. In 1824 he moved to North Carolina, where he lived until 1834, when he settled in Georgia and died in what is now Cherokee County in the same year. He as a tanner and a saddle and harness-maker by trade, and also devoted some attention to agricultural pursuits. His wife, Nancy T.   1832 May 31 Summons by the Orange County, North Carolina Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions - "State of North Carolina To the Sheriff of Orange County, Greeting: YOU are hereby commanded to summon Nicholas Thompson Executor of Sarah Thompson Dec. or heretofore Commanded if to be found in your county personally to be [appear] before the Justices of our next Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, to be held for Orange county, at the Court-House in Hillsborough on the 4th Monday in August next, then and there to answer Moses Whitsides & Nancy Whitesides his wife of a plea of [undiscernable] to them Damages - five hundred Dollars." Issued 31 May 1832. [Moses and Nancy apparently felt they were entitled to some of the estate, or possibly the action was for a debt owed by the estate to Moses and Nancy] [5]
